the flawed wonders that yair elazar glotman puts forth on his latest opus i know no weekend are the coldest dreams you would ever wish to immerse yourself in. they recall echoes of echoes, forced into slowly struggling shapes, ghosts of memories, whispers of life from another dimension. shamanic-repetitive beats shift slowly beneath echoing bells and fragments of past transmissions. overwhelmingly, one is taken into upon a winding mental path, with no clear resolution in sight, although the journey is ever-evolving and new.
2016 repress ...the 2nd release on the new aniara label! this is one of the deepest, most intense tracks we have heard in a while! >sinai hypnosis< is a lush and relaxed tracks that slowly builds and builds and just dont push things as so many of the modern house records ... this is a fresh evening breeze slowly turning into a invisible silent tornado sucking you up and dropping you on cloud 9! this is probably the closest we have heard anything come to global communications without copying their sound. the title track comes as extended and dub version. flip side brings >mima<, another kind of ballad with a dubstep/two step beat and a soothing voice, leading you gently into new territories. this soundtrack is a story about a nomad that got a lil money, been playing the backseat all his life, traveling with just a guitar and a pack of smokes taking heavy inhales of lah on stressful times thinking about his past, but looking forward to the future he is on the road to return to greatness with new friends and family slowly claiming his space and gaining his swagger back only to end in tragedy? - sir froderick
new years deal - bogus & kasillen come up with two original tracks with the consistent help of a mpc 1000, blending old italian horror soundtracks with dubby/cheesy analog sounds so to convey the sense of discomfort you feel while watching a thrilling italian b-movie, but in a clubby way. the final punch comes from the acid psychedelia of a different version of the same track by in flagranti and the 80 s space-like vibe of homeboy ma spaventi .

in 2007, renowned french producer julien jabre tracked down the american gospel singer phyliss mckoy joubert on myspace. joubert was already a cult figure for house aficionados thanks to -stand on the word-, a song she wrote and performed with her -celestial choir- in 1982 that became a staple of the club scene in new york. it resurfaced as a mysterious bootleg in 2000. julien, who d fallen in love with the song, was eager to remix and officialy rerelease it. when he finally reached out to phyliss, she explained the multitrack tape had been lost. the only thing to do was rerecording it-along with 10 other tracks. today on french label elias, julien and the joubert singers are releasing -stand on the word- in its original and unique 1982 version (mistakenly named after larry levan) and 3 brand new mixes including a fresh dimitri from paris remix. that s how the good lord works!
the music here is very much in the spirit of the label s kosmische/space berlin-school agenda, both reflecting his earlier work and exploring new territory simultaneously. lush orchestrations and beautiful synth pads contrast against hypnotic rhythms and delicate melodies, and while the label s mission might be -electronic listening music- tracks like red bird and mistral are surely dj material too.
shlomi abers be as one welcomes valent. as their new exclusive signing to the imprint. the german producer debuts on the label with this 4 storming acid tracks ep, acid meets techno again on the bao catalogue, highly recommended for the heads.
strength lies in calmness – and vice versa. marcel fengler returns on imf and offers three new inspirited musical pieces that protrude from the club context just as well as cater for your home stereo, picking up on the diverse musical moods defined by his debut album fokus (ostgut ton, 2013) while concentrating on intertwining sound aesthetics. with “kyu” laid out on the a-side, this new 12- starts off with a delicate yet muscular floor-pleaser – its subtle 4/4 rhythm is counteracted by lush claps on 2/4, but the true finesse comes in form of its varying rhythmic details, crisp hi-hats and underlying, subtle melodies, most notably the twirling organ trills, sustained synth pads and alienated shout outs. “shitau” on b1 picks up on these introverted and adoring musical moods with more organic bell percussion and swelling synth layers adding a more cinematic touch to the complex rhythm patterns—then pausing for a short dreamy break, gaining speed again before culminating in a grand finale. “zen” follows up with intimate string arrangements until fengler varies the tone and tempo with tribalist percussion and a lush kick drum. this ep is an ideal companion, whether you re pruning your bonsai or branching out a club set.
new years deal - 10 years of thema is not a milestone we take lightly, and we have absolutely no intention of slowing down. in fact we will be celebrating with a string of releases commemorating this accomplishment starting with this ep and going through to our 50th release with an all star line up ready for battle. sometimes there is a sound that lifts you so high you can’t possibly come down. its the kind of sound that many strive for, but few can ever reach. uk mainstay aubrey has been hitting this pinnacle for years through his releases on renowned imprints such as metroplex, ostgut ton, and skudge, as well as his very own solid groove records. * the reflection* ep comes as no exception. as only a dj and producer of his stature can do, aubrey goes above and beyond to take the listener through a spectrum of moods that culminate in a rounded and complex experience. from the uplifting, fast paced pads in *peligro 45* to the disorienting rhythmic voodoo of * roger doger* and peak energy drive of * train to the fire* there is a sense of direction and otherworldly ambiance that will take any dance floor to the place it needs to be
philpot and pauls musique chief tobi ettle starts this year a new series of releases from young and well talented producers around the periphery of the label and record store. the range of musical direction will be very open minded but in general there will be dub techno, deep and minimal techno as well as electronic beats with some italo disco and experimental approach. first is done by steppin wolf originally from basel and now staying in frankfurt/main. before he was living in stuttgart and he was frequenting the pauls musique record store always bringing updates of his latest production. here hes now dropping a deep piece of techno with several acid splash and some kind of a boards of canada-feeling. watch out also for his current release on kanns division mana-all-nite. thanks for purchasing a real copy!

alex suarez is part of a new breed of producers based out of brooklyn carving out their own unique sound experimenting in the world of raw primordial electronics. under the name cienfuegos, he has prior releases on brooklyn s primitive languages imprint as well as the france s unknown precept label-with his new -lost in god s country- ep we see him debut on the new york centered bank records. through the four tracks cienfuegos harkens back to the time of early industrial music, not far off from the early transmissions of spk or even hinting at sounds akin to e.g. oblique graph. suarez has a knack for developing textures and tension in his music sewing it all together with plodding rhythms and the occasional creeper vocal. heavyweight stuff coming most highly recommended.
for this new release, rue de plaisance opens its doors to a new york city artist we have been following since her debut 3 years ago. she’s developed a very personal, warm and groovy sound on different labels (brouqade, bodyparts) and in her live acts. her recordings have gathered the support of great artists from the scene and it s a real pleasure to welcome oshana.

the new vinyl-only record label modeight continues to expand the influence of east european underground dance music. silat beksi is well known for his tracks that pump the best afterhours worldwide, and also for his plentiful creative collaborations. three tracks were prepared for the ep together with the immensely talented musician durrrred from germany. “over” immerses us in a cold dark techno atmosphere. “afterglow” brings you out of the darkness so that you can see the infinite beauty of dawn at the sea. the elastic bass line of “inception” pulls you into the dense vibrations that captivate you and won’t let you leave the dance floor.
siam, one of israels pioneer new wave bands from the 80s, get a steamy red axes rework for their underground killer tel aviv downtown on the a side, and a re-master for their anthem in the realm of on the b-side.
mijo aka la royale, aka one half of moon runner and many more is back! its been a busy couple of years for mijo. countless remixes, productions, tours, multiple releases as well as taking care of his excellent record labels disque discos and electrique music. with simplicity and strength, title track proximo berlín has become one of the head tracks of the new latin american techno sound, one that mijo helped define with his side projects moon runner and la royale. próximo berlin has a very impressive remix from rex the dog, who delivered a stunning, seven minute long, techno rollercoaster. 110%. b-sides cheaptron and circulate are also some of our favorite mijo tracks ever. the simplicity and magnetism of those rhythms shake bodies insistently

most excellent unlimited is back with a homage to the primal roots of the dance floor, the disco break. this six-track, 12-inch ep gathers secret weapons from a diverse group of master re-editors who ve each provided their take on the venerable dj tool in the form of loops and grooves that will be welcome additions to the palettes of creative disc jocks everywhere. ranging from the minimal drum machine beats of daniel wang and alex from tokyo to the dramatic orchestration of tom noble s -samuel- and the whistle-laced afro disco of jacques renault (and a battle-ready acapella loop from danny krivit), most excellent breaks, beats & loops lives up to its name with a collection that pays respect to the lineage of the classic new york city edited break compilation.
greg belson s divine disco is a snapshot in time encapsulating the raw power of a spiritual performance, set to the pulsating 4/4 rhythms that were in vogue with the dance floors of the day. tip! labels like savoy played a key part in identifying artists that fit nicely into this brand new style with performers like shirley finney and the gospelaires, both of whom were established within the scene, but carried the disco torch brightly with their tunes featured here. divine disco also paints a picture of the lesser known acts that privately released their message to the hopeful masses, such as the gospel ambassadors and the inspirational souls, whose recording budgets would have been significantly less than any major label.
lush and adventurous melodic electro/techno tunes in his wellknown style by carl finlow! combining robotic melodies and smooth rolling drum machines in a kraftwerk meets the other peoples place meets underground resistance kinda way. 3 new tracks and a reissue of the lovely anomaly , originally released on device in 2003 as part of carl s electrilogy + album. the first artists release on the craigie knowes label after their sweet war child fundraiser compilation album.
blow out - summer 2016 nice price action ...back after a two year hiatus following their top 10 hit with >the creeps<, freaks launch their next episode with >umakenosense<, a mind-bending electronic monster package complete with bad ass radio slave remix.
>umakenosense< is a distorted trip into psychedelic territory through a minefield of cosmic energy. this is music that appeals to the mainstream and the dark underground, a formula that freaks have achieved time and time again.
radio slave has become renowned for his epic reworks, producing some of the best-loved remixes of the past few years. he doesnt disappoint with an expedition through low-end and high-octane stratospheres shaking out thegroovy beast and creating a sonic soundsystem mash up of a remix ... rewind!
freaks was originally the brain child of bournemouths justin harris and london-based luke solomon, but has mutated through its live format into a 6 piece outfit incorporating the infamous jonny rock on guitar, sascha darroch davies on drums, vocalist stella attar and rub on bass. with three albums behind them, a seminal label we know and love as music for freaks and a top 10 hit with >the creeps<, freaks have journeyed through filter disco, quirky mid tempo house and minimal techno to cement their own revolutionary style.
luke, justin and stella are now writing new material for their 4th studio album and a best of compilation (out end 2009). from early demo listening, it looks as if it will be a mesh of all their electronic, disco and leftfield pop influences and will undoubtedly re-introduce their fans to a whole new level of freakish behaviour.
nice price , summer 2016 super sale....
after a 10 year absence, portugals question of time records returns in 2012 with brand new vinyl and digital releases. the label was a hugely influential house and techno imprint in the mid 1990s, with everyone from sven väth to carl cox, laurent garnier, mr. c, tony humphries, and dj pippi having supported its groundbreaking releases in the early days. the labels first release of 2012 comes from qot label boss and long-serving portuguese dj hero j. daniel. the >change it< ep features four wildly different mixes of daniels new single. one of the mixes comes from the co-founder of the new qot - ambient house techno experimentalist aqob. overall the package is an entirely absorbing, intelligent and unique club ep that is impossible to categorise. it firmly sits outside the realms of todays club trends.
chilean born and berlin based dinky has forged a solid and illustrious career over the past decade. ‘casa’ announces her new album set for release on damian lazarus’s crosstown rebels this autumn, with remixes from axel boman and satori. a trained classical guitarist, singer and keyboard player that has held a dj residency at berlin’s infamous panorama bar since 2004, dinky’s sixth album, also titled ‘casa’ will be the first since the birth of her two children.’ dinky’s delicate vocal on ‘casa’ is both up-tempo and spacious, with infusions of acid, leftfield and electronica in its veins. axel boman delivers a stunning, emotive and epic nine and a half minute dub version, overlaid with spoken word samples referring to lost experiences. the swedish born producer is much-lauded for his releases on dj koze’s pampa, permanent vacation and his own imprint, studio barnhus, formed with kornel kovacs and petter of border community. while the hedonistic take from satori takes ‘casa’ up beyond the horizon. a future crosstown rebels artist, satori has released on 8bit, under your skin and bla bla records. ‘casa’ sees a return to form for dinky and a welcome return to the crosstown imprint, after previously releasing a single and a mix album for the pioneering label.
plangent records is back with the first various artists compilation (plancomp001) on the label and gathers long time friends, likeminded musicians and new talent on this 10 track release. this platform for deep, low-key, melancholic electronic music shall continue.
tk lawrence supplies four dancefloor tracks spanning from the stoned lurch of plastic crowns to the entrancing, snake charming level 5 dungeon. the ep is a hazy late night crawl through tk’s influences, from masters at work and new york jazz to the synthy soundtrack of his favourite atari arcade game marble madness.

OVERFLOW POOL (12 INCH, 180 G VINYL, REVBOARD SLEEVE)
12 Inch, 180 G +MP3 12.07.16
some records just barely nudge your consciousness, but they do so in such an intriguing manner that their tentativeness and ephemerality lure you in deeper than you expect. such is the case with overflow pool by mogador, a new project by will long. this prolific producer—who is best known for his profoundly meditative ambient music under the name celer—favors the longform, beatless approach to composition, as he lets his rigorously honed tones unspool with a gentle insistence.
driving, rumbling techno beats and soulful vocals. all tracks stand in contrast though they don’t lose their relation to each other. positive vibes have the potential to develop into their complete opposite after re-listening. sounds fade through industrial ruins, always picked up again by vocal snippets. satanic choir meets berghain.
redredred from muenster (germany) is coming to tell a story with his debut ep. shifts between deep rough techno tracks, warm house tunes and ambient pieces like a master. still, other musical influences are present as well. significant here is his distinct sound design. constantly revealing new elements almost like a nightly walk through an empty city under a foggy blanket. this ep is more than a travel companion as it delivers tracks that are definitely suitable for a club.
with the new sublabel ourselves established under the roof of the well-known o*rs crew from leipzig, a new label has been launched which can without a doubt be called a matter of the heart. production, graphic design, promotional shipping, in leipzig truly every single step remains within the family. with the now appearing compilation imagination the newly born baby ourselves directly presents itself in the best possible light. kicking off the sampler is düsseldorf-based artist sello. the house track characterized by its analog drums, deep chords and snotty bassline completely places his bet on deepness. in his very own catchy way, it sure is the perfect entrance into the musical debut. the second track of the release, a collaboration of jan ketel and his partner in crime siggatunez, shines through its very dynamic and driving buildup. the title being a graceful tribute, it carries the name of the eponymous berlin club farbfernseher. nevertheless, such a warm and dreamy house track might as well serve as the perfect commendation for the first open airs of spring. the flipside impresses with a ruff and dirty club track by berlin-based producer braunbeck, which self-ironically manifests itself particularly through the self-recorded vocals. as a true humorous banger, the track adds even more musical depth to the already outstanding release. the completion of the compilation and therefor also the most technoid track of the release is contributed by perel. a tool-like classic, standing out through its massive kick and hi-hat called felene hischer. nasty, groovy and timeless, just how we like it!
